The Technics SA-C600 is the box for people who want a complete hi-fi without a stack of separates. It is an amplifier, a CD player and a network streamer, and you only need to add a pair of speakers.
- Amp, CD player and streamer in one
- Chromecast, AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect
- Room calibration with Space Tune
- Phono input for a turntable
- Remote feels cheap for the price
- App can be slow at times
Design & build
It looks like a classic piece of hi-fi, with a brushed aluminium front, a clear display and a slot-free CD tray. It is compact enough to fit on a sideboard next to the TV.
Sound quality
Sound is clean, balanced and easy to listen to for hours. It is not as lively as the Rega Elex, but it is detailed and controlled, and the Space Tune room calibration helps when your speakers have to sit near a wall.
Features
Streaming is well covered with Chromecast, AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect, plus Bluetooth for quick sharing. There is also a moving-magnet phono input, so you can connect a turntable without extra boxes.
Our verdict
The SA-C600 is the simplest way to build a great-sounding system for CDs, vinyl and streaming.
